Contemporary Approaches

Critical theories that are of interest. How might they intersect with your career goals or aspirations?

EC: What text might you want to analyze with your chosen approach?

The critical theory I was most interested in was the feminist theory! It’s interesting to me because I think feminism is an important topic that many people are afraid of being labeled by. The fight for gender equality is always relevant and essential for society to grow. I hope to one day be a broadcast reporter and there is a lot of extra attention and negative connotation that surrounds that job field. Many women are sexualized in media and I think this practice would be essential to fight for women to be treated just as men are. Some texts I think would be good to read about is Ernest Hemingway. Honestly I read some of his work years ago and visited his house in the keys so I would be interested to check out his work with a more mature and insightful mindset.
